Abstract

Globalization and the ubiquity of connectivity technologies allow instant access to cultural content from all around the world. Younger generations, who have grown up surrounded by these possibilities, are the most frequent consumers of these productions. Elder adults who are not digital natives, have a stronger sense of belonging to a city or country than young people, and at the same time are not as immersed in the use of information technologies. These factors accentuate the intergenerational barrier, nullifying the possible linking spaces between young people and adults.

This paper proposes the development of a video game that contributes in this sense, linking the characteristic culture of the city of Mar del Plata through one of its most outstanding icons, tango master Astor Piazzolla. Across this paper, we explain the design and development process to make this game an attractive and accessible cultural object to both age populations.
