Abstract

This paper seeks to study mods within the field of historical games, for which we will first seek to establish a definition of mod, elaborate on the emergence of the mod phenomenon, and then proceed to classify the types of modifications in historical titles and exemplify them, taking the game Total War: Rome Remastered (Feral Interactive, Creative Assembly, 2021) as a case study.
